Summer tour 2018

In the footsteps of the Ennstal-Classic - this is how the JDOST summer tour from 16th.-17th. June 2018 was titled

On the evening of June 15th, most participants in the lovingly restored Thannegg Castle arrived in Moosheim. At 8:00 pm, Marion and Wolfgang greeted us in this wonderful ambience. The lodging, the routes and the restaurants - all well prepared and organized by the two. The longest journey had Dmitry and Natalia from Moscow, who wanted to get to know the Austrian mountains in this way for 3 months scheduled European tour in this way. On the one hand, the delicious dinner was about the kitties on the other hand, philosophical delicacies. Karl managed again and again the balancing act between food memories (photo-documentary recorded) and highly technical effusions.

On Saturday, with a hearty breakfast, I was surprised with music and little cakes with candles for my birthday. In front of the castle, the host Ernst Schrempf photographed our group on the steps of his estate - and remember: moisten the lips! Wolfgang also took pictures and greeted us again. Jaguar Land Rover Austria has provided a white F-Type convertible. Brigitte and Michael had the honor of putting that 300hp on the road this weekend. During the various stages that followed, everyone who wanted had the chance to test this cat. Before it really started, apricot and plum brandy were initiated. The morning stage took us over a winding toll road up the "Stoderzinken" to the mountain inn "Steinerhaus". We (Willi and I) had the start number 9 with our S-Type this time, Bernhard with his TVR ahead of us and Magda and Hannes behind us with their XJ.
Some participants walked to the "Friedenskircherl" on 1898m, which was built in 1902. In the same year Peter Rosegger visited this place and wrote: "What should I write in these mountains full of sunshine? I can only remain silent in devotion and be happy." Yes, we had to work a bit on the sunshine that day. In the "Steinerhaus", the rest of the drivers were enjoying themselves.
Petra has now joined our convoy. Toward 20km, Dmitry wondered at the smoke he was stirring. Kittens want to be spared and squat downhill. Since Moscow is obviously quite flat, our guest extensively tested the brake pedal - no cat love! Several other thirsty jaguars were refueled. Next, the second stage took us over the next toll road on the "Dachstein", which presented itself foggy. When leaving the car park, the following saying of a VW driver was heard: "A Jaguar is a ugly car!" Tastes, as you can see, can be very different. Negating the weather we drive on the "Hunerkogel" at 2700m and the view excited our imagination on - only white and gray tones at 5 degrees. Who did not eat yesterday?

There was a better view in the Ice Palace, the colorfully illuminated ice sculptures are worth a look. The stairway to nothing lived up to her name. A quick coffee in the Dachstein glacier restaurant and our group went downhill. On the next section sneaked (in the sense of more or less quiet), because unpaved, our big cats the already 3rd toll road of this day to "Oberhofalm". Two HL license plates blocked the same time the driving ban on the packed parking lot. Obviously they are used to standing in the field.
With now much more view into the fascinating environment, we enjoyed our lunch time on the terrace. The puppies (big and small) were stowed back in the kittens and now the 4th stage began with 73km, the longest of the day. Downhill, uphill past picturesque landscapes we went to the photo stop, before we reached our starting point again.
At 8:00 pm we joined the knight's hall for dinner. Wolfgang reminisced briefly about the varied day. Ernst Schrempf told in a humorous tone about the history of the castle and the in-house spirit. The "Tartarenhutessen", the specialty of the house, was artfully served. Sharon endeavored to taste the tartare out of the three different types of meat, the landlord has spared no expense and efforts to serve this rare way. Cozy the day came to an end.

The weather was mixed on Sunday. After a long sleeper breakfast, the cars were packed. To strengthen Karl handed back the morning soul comforter in stylish leather on the much more stylish Daimler Gerhard. In rank and file, almost like soldiers, parked the most diverse Jaguar models for the big photo session of Wolfgang, Karl, Christian and especially our host. In photos with human beings - over and over again: moisturizing lips. Mr. Schrempf proudly showed his beehive, the queen we searched in vain. I did not know how warm it is with such a bee colony.
The first short leg of the day took us up to the "Michaelberghaus" at 1300m. The die-hard enjoyed coffee on the cool viewing deck with a wonderful panoramic view. Dmitry was "refueled" with oil and adopted. How long or how far will it be to make battered XJ? Our race number two XK 120 in light green, steered by Manfred and Christine, drummed carefully down the mountain in front of us to wait for our group there.
Now the next stage started over 83km. An elegant Jaguar snake moved through the scenic and curvy "Gesäuse". Our next refueling stop evolved unexpectedly to the ice stop. Almost everyone enjoyed this cold refreshment. Gerhard with his E-Type showed a "Dorotheum catalog" of a special kind. The gentlemen of the creation found each his dream model, priced more or less favorable. Now it was time to saddle my own cat again. Roadbook led us through the iron road and happily if the sun arrived at the parking lot at Melk Abbey. Here we unfortunately had to leave the group, my birthday also wanted to be celebrated in the family.

The remaining short description I summarize according to telephone protocol with Karl:
In the terrace cafe the wonderful view was enjoyed with a small drink. The final stage led from Melk over the last Serpetinen on the "Dopplerhütte" in the "Landgasthaus Scheiblingstein". Ironically, our years old rag collector had problems. On the "Donaustraße" the green Emma (X-Type) began to whistle and scream. The hot rims forced Karl and Claudia to stop. After a few tricks, the kitten crawled or slipped to "Scheiblingstein". With hearty food was excellently talked about the experience in the group of the remaining 9 teams. Wolfgang said goodbye to the pilots with stamina.

We sincerely thank you for this entertaining weekend in the footsteps of the Ennstal Classic. Marion and Wolfgang - we really appreciate your qualities as cat-makers, because they are wild animals.
