Autumn-/Finaltour - 2018

Saturday, September 29, 2018

For the start of the autumn tour, we met in the "Cafe Heldenberg" at Kleinwetzdorf for breakfast together.

We enjoyed the extensive breakfast buffet. After this strengthening we let ourselves be led by the "Koller classic car museum". The exhibition impressively showed the entire automotive history from the beginning of the car production to the classic cars of the 70s and 80s. With our nine Englishmen, once again pursued by the rag-picker jeep, we started the first stage on beautiful side roads over the Wagram, Manhartsberg to the Kamptal and on to the cheese factory world at Heidenreichstein. After an excellent lunch, we were able to taste the sheep and goat's milk as well as the cheese and antipasti specialties produced in the course of the tour. The second stage took us further west on the Czech border to Gmünd where we checked in at the hotel "Sole-Felsen-Bad". Before dinner, we could still use the spa landscape for swimming or sweating in the sauna. The dinner was extended with gasoline talks until the friendly waiter asked us at midnight to go to the hotel bar as he had to prepare the breakfast tables.

The sun slowly gained ground against the morning frost and after the battle at the breakfast buffet we started at 09:15am to the third stage of our autumn tour. Through a beautiful landscape, this stage led south to the whiskey experience world in Roggenreith. Andi, Eva-Maria and Petra were already waiting there to accompany us on the guided tour through the adventure world and the following stages. For lunch, we drove in bright sunshine, the fourth stage on to Loibersdorf in the "Schmankerl Tavern Kalkofen" with stunning views of Pöggstall. The last leg of the autumn trip took us over beautiful and winding roads east across the Jauerling to Spitz on the Danube.

In the "Strandcafe Spitz" on the Danube we let the autumn tour with coffee and specially reserved for us Marillenknödel finish.

We thank Karl and Claudia for the excellent organization and look forward to the next JDOST events.
