Summer tour 2019

In British summer weather was meeting point in the Lengbachhof Breakfast was for all who wanted, and before the departure, the first group photo. Then, punctually at 9:40 AM downhill, off we went behind Brigitte and Michael, the OrgTeam, through beautiful hilly landscape with beautiful views with decreasing rain, even a few sunshine opening up. About the Hochgschaid and smallest, romantic roads it goes to Traisen, where Bernhard has to pay before Lilienfeld membership fee to the law enforcers. Further to the south it becomes more mountainous, the views more spectacular, so we come to Annaberg, from then on we enjoy the view of the still snow-capped Ötscher.

Before reaching the first stage goal, it starts to drizzle again, so we take lunch near the base station Gemeindealpe in the restaurant. Everything works fine, punctually at 13 clock it goes brisk and full on the Erlaufsee, which is well visited, despite the Wetterkapriolen, and then, very lonely, on a romantic route sometimes right, sometimes left of a stream, then creek, to Lunz at sea. Through the medieval town, which seems strangely overslept, the Ybbs along a piece, then on picturesque little street, the river loop abridged, after Opponitz. From there to Weyer to Katzensteinmühle, the destination of the second leg where Hermione and Gerhard join us, the group of 12 teams following the OrgTeam is complete.

Divided into three groups, we get an insight into the technology of the saws and the mills and the history of the mills in less than two hours. At 4:20 pm we go downstream with a refueling stop in Großraming to Losenstein, where we leave the Enns River to the right. The hitherto narrow valley widens, the mountainous landscape becomes hilly and lovelier. Over the smallest roads it goes to Grünburg, vistas to the west and south are moving, because a wonderful mountain panorama from the Great Priel in the south to the Traunstein in the west, all with the peaks in the clouds, complete the landscape. Back on the smallest, meandering, low-traffic roads we drive through Molln through the Ramsau, hard past the Sengsengebirge, again with wonderful views.

Through Hinterstoder it goes directly to the Schiederweiher, where we marvel after a short walk "Austria's most beautiful place", characterized by the Great Priel; Then it goes to the Hotel Stoderhof, where we are well accommodated and enjoy a 4-course dinner in nice company. The Krainhöfner family is acclaimed to announce their intention to become a member of the club, the two youngest, Leo and Max, have already proven to be heartbreakers.

On Sunday, after a sumptuous breakfast, the punctual start, the Drop Head Coupé drivers prove to be optimistic and open, unfortunately not long, because even in Windischgarsten the canopies are closed and it goes into the mountains, over the Hengstpass to 987 meters above sea level , the Kalkalpen National Park on both sides, lonely and indescribably beautiful, romantic and wild; the slopes are almost vertical, the tips cloudy. So we come back to Ennstal, via Altenmarkt to Weyer, from where it goes on the very smallest roads, partly single-lane, through rain-green mats and flower meadows at initially slight, later heavy rain direction Waidhofen. Cows and sheep are crowded together in the driest parts of the pasture, peacefully ruminating together, for us it's lunch for the castle host. Parking is found in the really picturesque town after a brief search in the event of rain, the Schlosswirt offers a cozy, cozy ambience, the best cuisine and well-organized service.

So we are back on time, at half past one full and satisfied for the short drive to the power station Schwellöd, where we first visit the impressive disused, built in the 1920s, old power plant, which now serves as a museum and then by the be followed by active successor. We marvel at Kaplan and Francis turbines, generators and switchboards. Then it goes on, about Ybbsitz and again small streets to Traisen and on to the Café Zeitweis in St. Veit on the Gölsen. There, the boss, despite all the announcements, only one lonely employee, as a combined waiter / cafetier / ice cream mixer has been divided, trying to work off 25 orders, mainly sundaes, which took time.

Here, many say goodbye to the great Org team, the hard core pulls to the "Ulysses to the green tree" and let the exit in memory of Gerhard.

Our conclusion: An excellently researched, selected and organized exit by Michael and Brigitte, in which the mix of scenic beauty, wonderful routing with precisely fitting curves, inclines and slopes and finally the solitude will be hard to beat. The roadbook with its "RED" written kilometer, which points to Verirrpunkte or dangers, Ulli has found to be extremely practical. From the conversations during the breaks and the meals it was soon clear that all participants enjoyed the ride and were more than satisfied, all of them were extremely disciplined, as you can tell by the punctual descents.

We thank everyone for nice and interesting conversations, especially of course Brigitte and Michael for their work, which has made this nice weekend possible.
