Viewed in the rearview mirror, the Vienna Classic Days 2019 on the 24./25.08.2019 were a complete success for the JDOST! But in turn ...
In the run-up to the event everything was once again well organized. WHO IS WHEN WHERE to do WHAT and which vehicles will decorate the JDOST booth in front of the Vienna City Hall. On Saturday, the Orga team arrived at 07.30 am at the city hall. Quickly the new club tent was set up and the cars were put into position. Jaguars huddled around the three of them. A particularly rare specimen, an XKR Silverstone from the year 2000 - only three were delivered in Austria, a classic XJ6 in british racing green and a representative of the modern age - an F-TYPE P300 checkered flag, kindly available from Jaguar Land Rover Austria posed. A Triumph TR250 and a Morgan Plus 4/4 complete the picture of classic British sports cars perfectly.
At 11:01 am the first participant of the Vienna Classic Days 2019 started in front of the town hall. All about 270 participants found their way past the JDOST stand on the Saturday round on the Vienna Höhenstraße to MA48 in the Danube city and back to the city hall. There were also some JDOST members at the start - the teams Schöbel / Nussgraber, Karasegh / Karasegh, Hegerle / Hegerle and Wohlwendt / Riegler (this time on Ford Anglia 10SE instead of Jaguar). A total of 56 British classics were at the start - including 15 Jaguar / Daimler vehicles. From about 15:00 pm met the participants from the tour again in the paddock around the town hall. Shortly before 17:00 pm all gathered again to stroll with their cars over the Viennese ring road for two rounds - approx. 20,000 enthusiastic spectators greeted the participants and waved them to joyfully. The Saturday evening ended with a gala evening in Neugebäude Castle for the participants. The JDOST Orga team was still busy with the dismantling of the stand, so that on Sunday everything was ready for construction again.
On Sunday, everything started about an hour later. Club tent, information and sales material were placed. Rally start again at 11.01 am. JDOST organized again this year a special audit at the Vienna Stock Exchange. Hannes K., Brigitte and Michael B. received the participants, asked them a specific Jaguar question and the teams with the quickest three correct answers received valuable prizes at the award ceremony - donated by Jaguar Land Rover Austria. After leaving the last car after the start of the town hall square, slowly began to degrade and conglomerate. The participants did not return to the town hall but stayed in place after the picnic in the Donaupark. At the Donauturm the award ceremony took place. Congratulations to the JDOST team Schöbel / Nussgraber for FIRST place in the epoch classification, the SECOND place in the overall standings, two fourth places in special stages and for the award 'Best of British Car'. Great!!! And that despite a bad head injury, which Wolfgang had suffered before the start!
A heartfelt thank you on behalf of the JDOST board of directors to all helping hands in the booth support and for the execution of the special audit at the stock exchange. Thank you very much for the beautiful cars that were available to us as exhibit at Peter S. (Jaguar XKR Silverstone), Christian P. (Triumph TR250), Martin K. (Morgan Plus 4/4) and Heinz W. (Jaguar XJ6) , Thanks also to the team Bromberger for the organization of the Vienna Classic Days, which brought people closer to the topic of 'vintage cars'.
