Our autumn trip “Steak with Egg” was again a perfectly organized trip with highlights and wonderful routes. Maria and Heinrich took us from castles, over the Burgenland with culture to the highlight of the steaks paired with young, old timers and veterans in the in-house car collection.
Anyone who has listened carefully to the owner of this car collection can now precisely distinguish between young, old and veteran timers. Who has paid attention and knows (or always has)? The steak could be ordered from a full and very large selection and by weight. So everyone could choose the steak of their choice according to their hunger. It was served on a hot stone where the juicy steak was sizzling. Concentrating on the food, it was suddenly completely silent, the slicing, ready roasting and the great meat took us completely under its spell (at least me, and certainly everyone else too). Georg had already explained the preparation to me beforehand, because he already knew the restaurant, but my steak was even better than I could imagine from Georg's stories.
Reading the invitation, I thought that the steak would be served with an egg, but we encountered the egg in the collection and on the estate of the artist Wander Bertoni. Outside there was a large bronze egg to sit in. Following Claudia's tip, I checked the sound of this hollow ice. I knocked so often on different places that my ankles started to hurt, the tones of the egg were actually all different. A great sound experience.
Wander Bertoni's studio was heated especially for us by the owner (his widow) and exuded a cozy warmth and atmosphere.
The neighborhood built its own house on the pleasant and spacious property for the egg collection. We thought it was a waste, but with the right lifts it would be an ideal garage for our Jaguars. The imagination ran away with us once again when it comes to jaguars ... time stands still.
Christian opened the hood of his car for me and explained everything about SU carburettors and perfect air flow to the radiator. The engine power was increased by the previous owner with simple measures and 10-20 hp. Christian's triumph is a beautiful, fantastic car. The same parts are used over and over again in English cars, and I've learned a lot again for my Jaguar XK 120 and learned a lot about it.
After lunch we went to the Oliver inn, which we all know well. At the foot of the Hohe Wand we drove through mountainous forest regions and valleys with many curves, serpentines and inclines. A beautiful route in terms of landscape, right at the gates of Vienna. It was rainy, cloudy, and in the suddenly darkened forest we had to turn on the headlights of our jaguars during the day.
A very, very nice and successful trip! Marion and Wolfgang led us perfectly on behalf of Maria and Heinrich, who unfortunately could not lead us personally due to the corona quarantine.Thank you very much for the organization, the trip was again - as always - a successful experience for all of us.
