4.Technology - Workshop 2017

JDOST and Histotech invited to the Histotech garage in Neunkirchen for the 4th technology workshop. The theme of 2017 was 'Suspension, wheels, tires'. Theoretical basis and practical illustrative material held the balance perfectly.

Again, followed by some members of the invitation and were on time in the Histotech garage. Mr. Schöbel welcomed the participants and handed over the word to Mr. Gräf, Managing Director of Histotech.

In part one of the event, the head of the House presented theoretical foundations. On the subject of tyre was among history, development and standardisation. Similar to 'Wheels' (standardisation, rim horns, press-in depth,...).

Wheel suspension (rigidaxle, wattrods, de Dion axle, suspension,...), suspension components (springs, shock absorbers, Struts,...), suspension geometry, drive shafts and differential - more interesting points of the lecture, which closely followed the present.

After a delicious lunch buffet we went on with part two. Mr. Schöbel showed to the astonished audience how suspension parts (especially of Jaguar classic cars) look like in practice. rear radius arm, steering knuckle, upper and lower ball joints, springs, etc.  Also a differential from a Ford could be inspected and understood in the truest sense of the word.

Mr. Gräf first demonstrated the electronic landing gear measurement on the basis of a Triumph Spitfire Mk III , and then the suspension settings on a Jaguar E-type, which is just as a patient in the workshop.

Before the group broke up and at the end of the lectures and demonstrations, Mr. Schöbel thanked on behalf of the JDOST Board with Mr. Gräf for the hospitality and the excellent organisation of this event. The participants were enthusiastic, showed this with strong applause and looking forward to a further technology workshop in 2018 - the next year´s motto is still being pondered.
