Vienna, 18./19.08.2018: The Vienna Classic Days 2018 call! Rudi Bromberger offered us this year again to refine the Vienna Classic Days with a club stand and a selection of our club cars. Let's do it!
On Saturday, the construction of the JDOST info stand will start at 07:30 - yes, that's really very early. We had to work quietly so as not to wake up the birds in the park next to it.
We are ready in time and also the cars shine in the morning sun to the bet. An XK 150 FHC in innocent white, a white E-Type V12 convertible, an XJ6 Sovereign in white too, the F-Type S AWD shines in Italian Racing Red and the XK 4.2 is in classy black. The stand is stocked with volunteer club members - waiting for information-hungry audiences begins and is rewarded as well. Many inquisitive people are showing an interest in club activities - some of them will become JDOST members. We are looking forward to it very much.
At 11:01 clock start about 200 classic vehicles for a tour of Vienna. Individually they are presented by the moderator and let go on the track. Highlights include the JDOST special audit at the Vienna Stock Exchange, the stop at 'The Mall' in Vienna Mitte and a special audit with meals at a MA48 facility in Transdanubia. The JDOST team organizes the examination at the stock exchange in a highly professional manner. Each participant must answer one question - the top three will receive a special prize, donated by Jaguar Land Rover Austria. In the afternoon, the vehicles arrive at the Vienna City Hall and take their seats in the designated areas.
After a hula dance performance on the main stage in front of the town hall, the pack of top-class automobile classics sets out - twice over the specially closed ring road. Thousands of enthusiastic spectators cheer and wave to the passing pilots - wonderful, this exuberant mood. It is a real pleasure that there are so many car enthusiasts who rejoice at the sight of these precious things.
Back at the Town Hall Square, the JDOST stand is dismantled and stowed away for the next day. Some make their way home, others enjoy the evening with good food and the same mood in the castle Neugebaude. A long beautiful day is coming to an end. Good night!
Sunday morning. The sun is shining behind the horizon to the east, the birds are slowly awakening and the roosters are crowing. Time for the JDOST-Orga-Team to find their way to the Vienna City Hall. At 9 o'clock everything is ready for 'Day 2'. The lectern with information material and the table with some Jaguar and JDOST gadgets are waiting for many interested parties. The composition of the car fleet has changed slightly. Instead of the XK 150 and E-Type, a red Triumph TR250 completes the impressive picture in front of the town hall.
As on Saturday, the Rallye-Recken start at 11.01 clock in front of the city hall to the exit on the Vienna High Street with some leisurely special stages. Next stop is at the Danube Tower - the picnic in the Danube Park. In glorious sunshine and high summer temperatures is eaten, drunk, joked and enjoyed! Then it goes back to the starting point at the town hall - the first participants arrive at about 14.30 clock.
At 4 pm, the award ceremony begins. The winners of all classes and special exams will be presented and given the trophies and prizes. Wolfgang Schöbel hands over the earned goodies to the top three of the JDOST special exam.
From about 17.30, after the end of the award ceremony, stands will be dismantled and the beautiful Rathausplatz restored to its original state.
Two beautiful days are coming to an end. The weather was excellent and the audience very interested. The JDOST Orga team is doing great things again in 2018.
