For more than 25 years, the Vienna Classic Days have developed into a traditional event and a cultural event. From August 20-21, 2022, the rolling automobile museum in Vienna will present itself from its most beautiful side.
Also traditional: the JDOST club stand in the start area of the event. Also this year we presented our club at the foot of the Danube Tower with our event tent and vehicles of our members. Stand construction began at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, when the roosters were still dreaming. Shortly after 7 a.m. we were ready and waiting for the influx of spectators. The car park in front of the Danube Tower was full by the time the event started at 10 a.m. and some interested parties visited our stand to find out more. The start of all approx. 150 participants took a little longer than an hour. After that, spectators and interested parties left the site and it became very quiet under the Danube Tower. We decided to break up the tent at noon and use the rest of the day for something else. We presented several classic British cars to the visitors, which were also well received: Jaguar E-Type, Jaguar F-Type, Jaguar XJ6, Jaguar XJS-C, Daimler V8, Lotus Elise caught the eyes of people strolling by. We were briefly joined by a Jaguar XK140 FHC, an ACE Bristol and a Sunbeam Alpine. On Saturday, the rally led through Vienna to the local mountains and back to THE MALL in the city. After the traditional tour of the Ringstrasse in Vienna, the first day ended with a cozy dinner in Schloss Neugebäude Palace.
Set-up didn't start until 8 a.m. on Sunday. We were more than ready in time for the arrival of the first guests and visitors. Again the start was at 10 o'clock. As every year, JDOST organized a special test at the stock exchange. Participants had to answer a question quickly and correctly. The top three received a prize kindly provided by Jaguar Land Rover Austria. Unfortunately, the weather gods weren't so kind to the event that day and it started around noon with heavy and then lighter drizzle. Although the rally participants returned to the Donaupark at midday, the interest of the spectators was unfortunately limited. The vintage cars lined up in the Danube Park - the planned picnic unfortunately fell through. The stand was dismantled at around 2 p.m. Two JDOST teams took part in the classic car rally. The Schöbel/Nussgraber team and the Wimpissinger/Wimpissinger team. The results were not officially available at the time of going to press. Congratulations in advance for the successful participation!
On Sunday we went through the city, where some special tests had to be completed. Then the route led back to the Danube Park. A wonderful, interesting weekend with many impressions passed. A big thank you to everyone who took part in looking after the stand and at the fair, to everyone who made their valuable vehicles available and to the team at Motor Mythos Bromberger, who organized this event so well.
We are already looking forward to next year, when it will again be 'The Automobile Museum rolls through Vienna'!
