Autumntour2.0 - 2021

Autumn tour 2021 - a story with 17 beauties and an outsider. Friday - in order to avoid the afternoon traffic, I have chosen an early approach to the Mondsee. In addition, I made an appointment with the understanding one to let the French thing through before I leave it in the garage of the Schlosshotel Mondsee together with the really important beauties.

In the garage I run into the president with the very best presidential company you can imagine and this time I don't mean the Jaguar. After a humorous greeting we part and everyone moves into the room. Free time until the castle tour - with previous meetings in the garden. With sparkling wine and fountain splashing there is diligent conversation, it is nice to scream - the setting, the meeting - one of the almost perfect moments, some of which we will still experience. The co-owner and operator of the castle hotel leads us with appropriate pride through the stately rooms and incidentally throws renovation costs around. You get the impression that he got a bargain there. But also that he achieved something very special with creativity and skill.

The dinner afterwards is wonderful and in the middle of it all come the stragglers - the rest of my Muschpoke, despite A1 and afternoon traffic - Friday evening - the cat drives! After taking care of the family, a short break and a visit to the gas station with Wolfgang are necessary. When parking in the garage again, we also discussed the risk of a CO alarm and discarded it again. All in all a great and successful start to the weekend - you can't thank Marion enough for the organization.

Saturday - grand breakfast buffet - the best way to start a day that will be filled with too little exercise and too much food. - Training is everything! The departure, brought forward to 09:00 with a previous group photo, almost succeeds - when starting and gently plucking the 18 participating vehicles, a toxic cloud seems to arise - fire brigade alarm! - but the reception prevents the use with the reference to a collection of addicts with their love affairs.

The trip to the Manro car museum in Koppl is uneventful. On arrival, Michis XJR loses a little water - finally “OPEN HOOD!” With diagnostic tests. As always, Karl is at your side with help and advice. The XJR was sick before and was only temporarily repaired - but will hold out. The car museum is small but nice and offers a great panopticon of automobilia from toys in large and small.

The trip to lunch takes you over narrow, winding paths to the Attersee. The only challenge this weekend for Gerhard in the 2m wide Aston Martin. (The scratch-free thanks to the Güterweg Challenge). Unfortunately, Heinz has to open the hood of the MKII because of the lack of oil pressure - but can continue the journey for the time being. Lunch over the Attersee delights with a wonderful view. Unfortunately, the service is a little overwhelmed, this is where we noticed the pandemic aftermath in the catering trade for the first time due to the current staff shortage.

Due to the heat under the hood, the fire hose under the hood of Werner's XJ explodes - but this cannot be considered a breakdown, just a misinterpretation of a fire protection device. The wise men had already opened the hoods of their darlings. Werner then followed this example.

Unfortunately, when driving in the afternoon at Heinz's MKII, the oil pressure was always gone - which was a sign for the automobile lover to park the car at the next stop in the parking lot of the Stehererhof open-air museum - and then take the train home and a replacement car with a trailer to fetch the MKII - (in the evening we saw Heinz again at dinner - my respect for the mission!). In the meantime, the museum grouches (Karl and the author) take care of the youth work with the village youth - Karl shows how an XK sounds when the lock is closed - I mean that the whole family can sit in front. We hope to have put some dreams into the heads of the girls and boys.

On departure, the wheat is separated from the chaff and drives ahead to practice "wellness" in the hotel. The rest, decimated by the wellness disciples, reaches the hotel a little late at around 7pm. One and the other were missing at dinner - I assume that the temptation to take a night train through the Mondsee community was simply too great. Otherwise the evening was a repetition of the previous evening, humorous conversations and gluttony. Decadence at its best - we enjoyed every moment. Sunday also began as Saturday ended - with too much food - I wonder if I need a boarding aid because it is a bit difficult to stoop. Also, Friday's car wash slip takes its toll - my hip isn't very helpful and it turns out my hip is doing better than the XJ. Is My Hip Francophile? After the check out and the advice from reception - not to start at the same time - we drove out of the garage with a time delay, which only triggered the hotel's internal alarm and activated the poisoning warning signs.

Strengthened closet

  • that it was an excellent weekend.
  • that Jaguars are incredibly reliable cars - basically none of them really broke - and the other cars also held up well (Aston and Triumph)
  • that Marion organized it great.
  • that we will be there again when the strict eyes of the board of directors wave through the French marketing experiment.

Addendum to the last part of the tour:

We were very happy to welcome the Winkler family back to the Forellenhof. They decided to give themselves and their MKII (loaded on the trailer) the rest of the ride. After lunch, a beautiful, winding route led us into the valley of the Feitelmacher to Trattenbach. The look in the rearview mirror often elicited a smile - how often do you have an MKII on a trailer with you on a drive. When we arrived there, we were greeted and greeted by a Jaguar E-Type, including its owner. After discussions with the engine and a detailed inspection of the contents of the bonnet, we were called for a tour. We hiked about 1.5 kilometers up to the Löschenkohl factory, the grinding shop on the König and the turner's shop on the Erlach. Specialists were waiting everywhere, who explained and showed us in detail how the famous Feitel is made. Since this tour was so interesting, we forgot about the time. We hiked the 1.5 kilometers back to the parking lot, where part of the group said goodbye to start the journey home. 8 cars, including the 16 occupants, decided to travel to dinner directly via the motorway. 1 hour late we arrived at the Wachau residence in Aggsbach Dorf, where we ended the evening warmly dressed on the terrace.
