JDOST-2-Days / Summerride 2013

The Hoteldorf Grüner Baum in Bad Gastein was the basis for our 2-day exit this time. Already on Friday the 28.6.2013 checked was some JDOST members in the hotel. To the hotel, there is not much to say, except perhaps that it is fantastically located and equipped and the culinary delights from the finest - praise at this point already to the Orga-team. We spent the first night by the fire so and included the Roadbooks out.

After a short but night we met a Saturday 29.6.2013 right after breakfast to the route meeting with start number allocation at the parking lot and started on time at 9:00 with the first stage.

The XJ Tross in sunshine and snowcapped mountain peaks in movement (as luck would have it really only kittens of the XJ class were represented) continued to sweep through the Gastein Valley, the pass Lueg to Bischofshofen. There, the XJ fleet was reinforced as by an XK8 convertible, accompanied by Herbert and Monika of course, and continued their way.

Surprisingly we had to a redirection in purchase take shortly before Hallein, because it seemed like all responders like firefighters, police, rescue and even helicopter, so the entire program, an exercise held.

We were not affected by the exercise, so it went over narrow and steep switchbacks overlooking Hallein to then to climb the Ross fields mountain road that led us to the first destination - the car park at the Summit of Ross field. Our hunt we enjoyed a break BB´s and we enjoyed the wonderful views from the Summit cross out with fantastic weather. After a photo shoot, Christian H. led us (as one of the organizers of course with start number 1 equipped) with its XJ S2 for lunch to the Obersalzberg in the Alpengasthof Hochlenzer where we food had enjoyed on the terrace with views of the Watzmann.

Well strengthened it went back on winding mountain roads to Berchtesgaden. Here we not stopped us but, it drove towards Ettenberg. There, a Panel announced very tight curves. Well, if there are such announcements, what truth necessarily. It was really tight bends, but you are no problem for our kitten and of course whose rider, so it passed through forest meadows with sheep to the sanctuary Ettenberg. Is worth mentioning in this Church of the St. Christophorus, its 4.30 m hohe cannot be overlooked statue on the organ loft of the rows of seats.

Good that we had visited the patron saint of motorists, because a part of the next stage was a challenge in the form of a narrow, steep, twisting and additionally equipped with potholes, gravel road. Also can not shake a Jaguar driver, then set the - very british stop - even the rain and accompanied us to the Alpine farm on Lake, where we had a short rest.

A Lake was not enough, we continued up to the Königssee, but unfortunately bad weather (now but to british) made impossible for a cruise on the Lake. So we not finished tree, the first day a direct drive in Hotel Grüner naturally without a dinner. The first day was somewhat tiring, so we pulled us in our room to be ready for day 2.

The next morning after breakfast - did I mention already that an excellent breakfast buffet is served in the green tree? No matter - in any case gathered we briefly to a group photo to after check out from the hotel, so I personally would have held out longer there's, but now I digress great quiet location, swimming pool with thermal water -. So after the said group shot started the second day of the sunshine exit towards Fuschl am see. This time, by the way not a XJ S2 (Christian H.) as (at) leading JAG, but an XJS 3.6, driven by our Wolfgang second organizer of exit.

We parked our arrived in Fuschl JAG BB´s directly in front of the Hotel Schloss Fuschl. Before we have made to the planned afternoon on the terrace but was still a small tour needed. Not like you think a visit to Castle or similar, but a small vehicle inspection, because at the same time, the Arabella classics 2013 took place and some of the participants had parked their treasures at the hotel. So understandable, that visited for example BMW 507, Mercedes Ponton, E-type, Porsche and co must be what would we for classic car lovers if we had not used this opportunity?

After everything was done (auto tour, Shoptalk and consumption of coffee or other beverages and food) we started the penultimate stage. They conducted over past Ischl us at St.Gilgen at the Lake Wolfgang and bad Bad Goisern, how should it be otherwise, a serpentine road to the Chair of preaching, to the lunch break. Actually, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Dachstein from the Berghof Predigstuhl, unfortunately of's hiding behind a persistent cloud cover.

Before we headed to our final stage we said goodbye by Herbert and Monika, that their travel in the opposite direction departed with its XK8 convertible.

For the XJ fleet was so an XJR X 300 down towards Hallstatt, where Charles the acoustics of the tunnel - tested with joy already a beautiful sound 4 liters! We crossed Hallstatt overlooking the picturesque Lake Hallstatt and bad Aussee wanted to achieve, but unfortunately this was not possible, because the access road was closed due to debris flow outlet. Well, Yes, so everything back. We crossed a second time, to the delight of Karl Hallstatt - and I say only acoustic.

Actually would have been Yes planned to go around the Hallstätter Lake, but back and forth is something else. About Ebensee's our ultimate goal continued on earlier than planned after Traunkirchen, where we yet not stopped tourists due to overcrowding by lots of and peilten - Gmunden.

At Lake Gasthof Steinmaurer in Gmunden we enjoyed the Sun on the terrace overlooking the lake Traunsee, before every man for himself began the journey home.

Summarized the report would ensure shorter possible - for example: Super weather (either Sun or British) superbly selected stations (Hotel, restaurants) and all excellently organized challenging tracks, the Orga-team by our Christian H. and Wolfgang S..

But a detailed reporting makes you wanting more - or?

In this sense, I look forward to the next exit and thanks to the Orga-team!

Your Claudia S.
