Autumn/Finaltour 2019

When somebody makes a journey…

under this motto stood the JDOST autumn tour 2019. Meeting point was on Saturday in the morning at the Hotel Höldrichsmühle in Hinterbrühl. "It's breakfast-time" - Arrive, have breakfast, register, chat ... everything was well organized and the tour started in light rain and tingling 11 degrees. More than 20 cars and more than 40 people counted the group of people. The Orga team, Mrs. Marion N. and Mr. Wolfgang S. were very happy to welcome the family Hauer with their E-Type Coupé for the first time. Stage 1 aimed directly at Maria Land Stüberl at the Schneeberg - about 80 km away from the start. The police tricycle in Siegenfeld did not cause any problems for us - it can be purchased as a barn find and is no longer in use.

After the break, it continued at 12 clock - the sky cried on. This time only a hopping to the Payerbacher Hof. The cars were placed in the park in front of the pavilion, where the Jakobi market was in progress. Before and after lunch, the group was photographed - a nice memory. One such - but not at all beautiful - graced Mr. Michael B. one. His brave XJR kissed the sidewalk with the oil pan at the exit from the park. Ouch! A few miles later: oil loss. Then off to the uncle doctor to Neunkirchen. The third stage took us to the Mountain Farm Museum Hausstein, just 90 km away. We passed the beautiful waterfalls at Hohenberg. At half past three we arrived in Frankenfels and were warmly welcomed. In the farmer's museum we found ourselves at least decades in the past set - plows, household effects, mills, ... Meticulously collected and lovingly trapped exhibits are admired. The last Saturday drive took us to the destination of Plankenstein Castle - arrival at 17.30 after a rainy day. Through a skillful false turn a group arrived just before the leading vehicle in the courtyard. The oldies were cleverly settled - all found a space. Check in at 19 o'clock was the Burgherrenschmaus served - the evening sounded so around midnight comfortable.

Sunday greeted us with low-hanging clouds, which, however, increasingly dissolved into pleasure. The departure was delayed slightly - the XJ6 of Mr. Peter K. refused to jump. No spark - obviously due to the high humidity. Clusters of highly talented specialists grew up around the sheet-wounded misery. A melange of great sensitivity and miracle spray brought the straight six zylinder to life. Brilliant faces whine their hands up and practice the wave. Engine is running - Stage-1 started from day-2. On the way to the craft museum in St.Leonhard / Hornerwald, weeping ruminants observed us in a stoic calm. After about 70 km were used in the inn Kirchberger in Himberg the toilet and thrown by some a small snack. After 20 minutes we continued towards the museum. A few kilometers before Gföhl Mr. Helmut P. had luck in misfortune. The left rear tire of his Jaguar Mk II started to breathe out air - a slap. The spare wheel is found quickly - but he is attested airlessness. What nobody suspects yet - the good spirits have just chosen THIS place for the incident. A garage door opens on the other side of the street - friendly, helpful people with the right tools came to the car and asked how they could help. A special trolley jack raises the Mk II to wheel change height in no time. The spare wheel was brought to operating pressure in the garage with a supercharged quick wheel mounted and Helmut was ready to travel again. Many, many thanks to the helpful guys and to Mr. Wolfgang S. who changed the wheel with a knowledgeable, strong hand. 20 km further we parked a meadow behind the craft museum. At various stations craft could be explored - weaving, carpentry, forging, cooking, ... all there! Next stop: Stift Altenburg in about 12 km. The tables are set and hungry mouths were stuffed. After lunch, the route took us to Greilenstein Castle. Again, the creation of a group photo was on the plan. The guide was entertaining and gave an idea of how life was going on many decades ago. The last and longest stage took us - fortunately without any breakdown - more than 120 km far to the castle cellar in Bockfließ. A wonderful two-day tour came to a leisurely conclusion with an excellent dinner. Many and many thanks to the Orga-Team Mrs. Marion N. and Mr. Wolfgang S., who gave the participants a great, well-organized experience.
