On 23 August at 10:00 a.m., the starting flag was raised once again for the Vienna Classic Days in the car park of the ‘huma eleven’ shopping centre in Simmering. Five teams from JDOST took part again and explored the Kahlenberg, the Höhenstraße and parts of the Vienna Woods on this day. Various special stages and checkpoints were completed, and at 5 p.m., the participants gathered again at the Döblinger Steg, where the convoy, accompanied by police, set off at around 6 p.m. for the traditional Ring Parade, during which all classic cars were allowed to drive two laps on the Ring, which had been closed to traffic for us. Afterwards, the participants were allowed to drive into the Prater and, after a hearty dinner, the day came to an end at around 9 p.m.
On 24 August, we were welcomed with a hearty breakfast at MA 48 on Rautenweg. Fortified, the participants set off at 10:00 a.m. to explore Vienna’s city centre according to the road book. Thanks to the support of Heinrich W., Werner P. and Silvia P., the JDOST pass control took place again at the stock exchange, and after completing the special stages, a short break was taken at Heldenplatz. Afterwards, all participants drove to the Donaupark, where the club stand was set up thanks to the support of Alberto S., Christian P. and Silvia K. Christian P.’s Triumph TR250, Alberto S.’s Jaguar XF and Fritz T.’s XJR were used for many photos by spectators, and many friends and interested parties visited our stand.
The award ceremony began at around 3:30 p.m., where the top three participants in the JDOST pass control received a prize from Jaguar Land Rover. Wolfgang and Marion Sch. secured first place in the class ranking, first place in the special Rathausmann ranking, best British car and third place in the overall ranking.
Many thanks to our members for their active support this weekend. We would also like to thank Dieter P. from Jaguar Land Rover for providing the prizes, and of course, the biggest thanks go to the organiser and his team, who once again managed to put together a great event.
We look forward to next year!
