Eight teams (17 people) from JDOST took part in this year’s Grimming-Gesäuse Classic.

On 14 August, all participants gathered at the main square in Rottenmann, where, following a welcome speech by the organiser Alexander Marcher, the roadbooks were handed out. After some light-hearted conversation and a bite to eat, the JDOST participants set off for their accommodation.

On 15 August, the first vehicle set off at 08:31 from the car park at Admont Abbey. The route took us through the Gesäuse region via Weyer towards Lunz am See and on to Mariazell, then back via Wildalpen, Hieflau and Kaiserau to the main square in Rottenmann, where the evening drew to a close with barbecued chicken or sausages and the odd beer or two. The temperatures that day put both man and machine to the test, which made some of the challenges even more demanding and provided plenty of laughs during the evening’s discussions.

On 16 August, we set off at 08:31 from the Laimer car dealership, heading towards Hinterstoder and Scharnstein, then on to Gmunden on Lake Traunsee. After lunch, the route took us past Lake Attersee, Lake Mondsee and Lake Wolfgangsee to Kulm. The day drew to a close once again at Pichlarn Castle, where, in a wonderful setting surrounded by classic cars and their owners, we raised a glass to the past two days and exchanged experiences whilst enjoying pleasant conversation.

Dinner and the prize-giving ceremony took place once again at the Kirchenwirt in Aigen, where the winners were announced after a hearty meal.
